KUBORAUM was founded in Berlin in 2012 by the designer Livio Graziottin and the anthropologist Sergio Eusebi. The name is German for cubic room. Every frame is designed in Berlin and handmade in Italy. The brand thinks of each design as a mask rather than a pair of glasses, a space the wearer steps into. Our listings carry that word: every model here is a Maske, followed by a letter and a number.

Most of the frames here are acetate, cut from a solid plate so the colour runs through the whole rim. That matters on a brand whose colours are the point, from Black Matt and Havana to the brighter shades. Acetate has weight to it, and it holds an adjustment once an optician has set it. The metal frames, the H series and a few of the P series, keep the rim thin.

Eye sizes run from about 39mm to 56mm, so there is a fit here for a narrow face and for a wide one. Several models come in more than one colour, so check the colour name before you buy. Optical frames ship as frames, free and insured within the US, with a signature on delivery, for your own optician to glaze. Sunglasses arrive with their sun lenses fitted.

Can I get prescription lenses in KUBORAUM frames?
