About OVVO

Eleven OVVO frames are online, all of them metal. OVVO Optics has operated independently since 2010. Its frames are built from a composite of surgical steel and titanium, a hypoallergenic material that is light, strong and flexible. The metal is laser-cut in Germany, and the frames are assembled by hand in a family-owned facility in Poland, each passing through dozens of steps. Every one has OVVO’s patented screwless hinge, so there is no screw to work loose.

Metal keeps a rim thin, and OVVO’s are thinner than most, with the colour as a finish over the composite. The names are short: Crow, Space, Rust, Sailor Blue, Sand / Fern, Black / Bronze, Graphite / Red, Matte Black / Rust, Raisin / Amethyst, Crow / Caribbean Sea, Cozumel / Flamingo. The models carry four-digit numbers, and the 3828 and 3890 rectangles are each here in two colours.

Rectangles, mostly wide

Five of the eleven are rectangular, two are square, two are round, and there is one geometric and one cat-eye. The sizes run wide for the store: eye sizes go from 46mm to 55mm with a median of 53mm, and six of the eleven measure 53mm or more; only the 6072 round in Space is 46mm. Most of the eleven are one of a kind. Each ships as a frame within the US, free, insured and signed for on delivery, and your own optician glazes it. Returns are accepted within seven days of delivery, less a 15 percent restocking charge; discounted frames are final sale.

Are OVVO frames titanium?

Partly. OVVO frames are made from a composite of surgical steel and titanium, which the brand describes as hypoallergenic, light, strong and flexible. Titanium on its own is light and rigid; the steel adds spring. All eleven OVVO frames online are metal throughout, laser-cut in Germany and assembled by hand in Poland, with the colour applied as a finish.

Do OVVO glasses have screws?

No. Every OVVO frame uses the brand’s patented screwless hinge, so there is no screw at the temple to work loose or fall out. The hinge is cut from the same surgical steel and titanium composite as the rest of the frame. If a frame needs adjusting, your own optician can do it; both of our shops belong to the Eye Rx practice, where fittings happen.

Are OVVO frames hypoallergenic?

OVVO describes its surgical steel and titanium composite as hypoallergenic, as well as light, strong and flexible, and all eleven frames here are made from it. We repeat what the brand states rather than add to it, so if you react to a particular metal, ask us and we will pass on what OVVO says. Each frame ships as a frame for your own optician to glaze.
