About Sabine Be

Twenty-six Sabine Be frames are online. The brand was launched in 2014 by Sabine Bégault-Vagner, who grew up in a family of opticians in Orléans and worked in her mother’s optical shop for twenty-five years before designing her own collection. Every frame is made by hand in France. The brand found its first following in the United States and is now sold in hundreds of shops worldwide.

The frames are named Be something: Be Sweet, Be Cat’s, Be Swag Stripe, Be Val de Loire, Mini Be Crazy. The colours are the brand’s signature, strong and often paired: Blonde Tortoise / Neon Yellow, Translucent Light Blue / Neon Pink, Vintage Tortoise / Satin Red, Navy Stripe and Red Stripe, Matte Vanilla Choco, Satin Purple. Twenty are acetate, cut from a solid plate so both colours run through; four pair acetate with metal, and two, the Be Balloon Slim and Be Mood Slim, are metal rounds.

The smallest range in the store

Sabine Be runs small. Eye sizes go from 41mm to 53mm with a median of 47mm; ten of the 26 are 46mm or under, which makes this the largest single brand on our narrow frames page, and only two reach 53mm. Round leads with nine frames, then cat-eye with seven, rectangular with four, oval with three, square with two and one geometric.

Most of the 26 are one of a kind. A frame ships as a frame, free and insured within the US and signed for on delivery, for your own optician to glaze; if the fit is wrong, returns are accepted within seven days of delivery, less a 15 percent restocking charge.

Where are Sabine Be glasses made?

In France, by hand. The brand is based in Orléans, where its founder grew up in a family of opticians, and every frame is handmade in France; all 26 Sabine Be frames online are on our Made in France page. The brand found its first following in the United States before it was widely sold at home.

Who designs Sabine Be?

Sabine Bégault-Vagner, an optician. She worked in her mother’s optical shop in Orléans for twenty-five years before launching her own collection in 2014, which is why the frames are drawn with fitting in mind as well as colour. The brand is known for strong colour and unexpected shapes, and the model names all begin with Be.

Are Sabine Be frames small?

Smaller than most. Our 26 run from 41mm to 53mm across the eye with a median of 47mm, and ten are 46mm or under, more than any other brand on our narrow frames page. Can I get prescription lenses in Sabine Be frames?

Yes. Each frame ships as a frame, and your own optician fits the lenses. Twenty of the 26 are acetate, cut from a solid plate, which hides a thicker lens edge and holds an optician’s adjustment; the two Slim models are thin metal rounds.
