Blackfin Eyeglasses

Fourteen Blackfin frames are online, and every one of them is titanium. Blackfin belongs to Pramaor, the company Maria Pramaor started in 1971 when she opened her own frame workshop in Agordo, a town at the heart of Italy’s eyewear district in the Dolomites. In 1991 Pramaor and her husband, Primo Del Din, turned to titanium, sending their technicians to Japan to learn the material and setting up a department for it. That knowledge became Blackfin: titanium frames designed and made entirely in Italy.

Titanium is light and rigid, and it keeps a rim thin, so these frames sit on the face as a coloured line. Every colour here is a pair: Persian Indigo / Provence Blue, Forest Green / Anodized Yellow, Dahlia Purple / Pearl Pink, Storm Navy Blue / Electric Green, Ultramarine Green / Mint Green. Eight of the 14 have blue in the name, which makes Blackfin the largest brand on our blue frames page. The models are named for coastal places: Bayfront, Madeline, Sitka, Samoa, Edgartown, Rye, Esbjerg, Catalina, Brookwood, Ellis Beach, Skagen.

Shapes and sizes

Round leads with five frames, then square and cat-eye with three each, geometric with two and one rectangle. Eye sizes run from 44mm to 55mm with a median of 51mm: three frames are 46mm or under, the Rye and Esbjerg rounds, eight sit between 47mm and 52mm, and three are 53mm or more.

Each ships as a frame, free and insured within the US with a signature on delivery; your own optician fits the lenses, and both of our shops belong to the Eye Rx practice if you would rather have the titanium adjusted in person.
